The table is one of the most necessary household items.
Before proceeding with the creation of the table design, it is necessary to clearly decide where the family table will stand: in a spacious kitchen, in the living room or in the hall, or maybe it will be necessary on the veranda of your unique cottage.
After that, we decide with the design – its shape and size depending on the number of family members and, quite possibly, the number of close friends.
What forms and dimensions of the table can be?
Table design
The shape of the table is determined by the shape of its countertop. The most common countertops include: round or oval, as well as rectangular or square forms.
Exclusive forms are rarely encountered: curved and polygonal.
But, the wrong shape has a serious drawback – they take up much more space than the tables are round or rectangular with the same area of the countertop. Visually designer models in the form of blots or daisies, including asymmetric (mirror) from the side seem more bulky. At the same time, the most important thing is that the “incorrect” form of dining tables, in contrast to the “correct” rectangular or round tables, always suggest the placement of fewer people.
His legs give a special design to any table. As a rule, there are four of them, and the forms are different: straight and curved, square, round or polygonal, carved, decorative and so on from the end part
Although, for the sake of justice, I would like to note that the table can have one leg in the center of the countertop. In this case, it will be necessary to consider the main question – its stability.
For a family of four – the most rational will be the size:
for a round table with a diameter of 120 cm.;
For a rectangular table 80×120 cm.;
for a square table 90x90cm.
Materials for the table
The material for the table should be light, durable and convenient to process it. Below are materials for the manufacture of the table in the order of their decrease in practicality: wood, metal, stone, glass, instead of wood, you can use chipboard or MDF, as well as any solid items, the material of which is processing processing.
It must be emphasized that the table made of wood will be the most successful choice.
In the proposed article, we consider the manufacture of the simplest wooden table. Therefore, we will prepare materials for a rectangular table size 80×120 cm.
Firstly, it is necessary to prepare the required number of wooden boards with dimensions of 20x3x120 cm. For the manufacture of the surface of the countertop. We also need two bars in size 5x5x60 cm. Each, as well as two bars in size 5x5x110 cm. For the manufacture of a countertop frame.
Secondly, four bars of 10x10x70 cm in size will be required. for the legs of the table so that our table has the optimal height – 75 cm.
Thirdly, you will need: a tool for working with wood, carpentry glue, screws for wood, metal corners, sandpaper, wood putty, furniture varnish. If you want to paint the table – color paint from your choice.
And finally, do not forget about security measures when working with tools, especially electrical!
After all the necessary material is prepared, we proceed to the assembly of the table.
We collect the table
If the prepared boards and the beam have a large length, then they must be cut. Try to make the slices even, under 90 degrees.
In order for the wooden table to serve for a long time, it is necessary to treat the prepared parts with a special protective solution, which will prevent the appearance of fungi, mold and other microorganisms on a tree. A special protective solution can be bought in any construction store, consulted by the seller.
We collect the countertop
First, first we collect the frame of the countertops. To do this, take two bars in size 5x5x60 cm., as well as two bars in size 5x5x110 cm. and with the help of corners and self -tapping screws we form a rectangle, while preliminarily applied to the joining surfaces of the bars. When connecting short bars with long, consider that the size of the countertop frame should be 70×110 cm., not 60×120 cm. Please note that the corners of the frame should be straight!
After that, lay the prepared boards on the frame of the countertops and fasten them with screws, not forgetting to apply the carpentry glue on the side surfaces of the boards. If you did everything right, then the boards will play beyond the edge of the countertop frame for 10 cm. around the entire perimeter.
It remains to attach the legs to the countertop.
We fasten the legs to the countertop
It is necessary, first, to the joining surfaces of the legs and countertops, first apply the carpentry glue. Then connect them using self -tapping screws. If necessary, the connection is enhanced by metal corners, two per leg.
The legs can be attached with the help of special nuts, the so-called T-shaped. At the same distance on the bisector of each corner of the countertop, it is necessary to drill a hole. Then into the resulting hole using the hammer, it is necessary to insert a T-haika through the upper part of the countertop. Install four bolts with a eye and an ear in the leg of the table. Please note that the dimensions should correspond to the size of the T-shaped nut! Next, screw the legs in the middle of the base, until they connect to the upper part.
Finally our wooden table is assembled! It is not desirable to use it at once, t. to. It takes time to dry the carpentry glue. When the glue dries, the table can be primed, polished, varnished or painted, and it will delight you for a long time.
We give the aesthetics to our table
You decided to design the table with the design of the table, now we have to complete the plan. In order for the wooden table to serve “faith and truth” for many years to paint it. Alkyd mixtures are suitable for external work, if your table is operated on the street or in a room with high humidity, then it is necessary to treat it with a water -repellent impregnation for wood. Enamel and enamel paints are also used in furniture painting.
To give the table originality and exclusivity, you can use decorative paints for finishing the table elements, apply a pattern in the form of stripes, flowers, birds, etc. D. Within a week, the table should dry and that’s it, you can use.
